He mainly pointed his preying attacks to people who reserved under the pain, homeless people, gays, and others from minority communities. With different options, like injecting them with drugs, choking them and worse after they were done with their bodies he did it. The same tale goes on and we get to know in the year 1991 one of his victims managed to escape and went to the police.

They found the snaps at his place with some chopped up body parts taken out of his victims. Life imprisonment was his prison sentence, however, he got killed by another convict in 1994.

Childhood Life

One of the reasons why Jeffrey Dahmer turns into a serial killer could be how his childhood looked like. He was born in 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US. Before, he was a nice child, however, his personality turned to the contrary when he mentions 4 years’ old. Through an operation, he got a double hernia fixed, and after that life became harder and harder, he wasn’t inclined to socialize with anyone. They had often moved, and when his school year started, he was in Ohio.

Be it at the tender age, Dahmer’s interest was outlined by the weird stuff; such as animal bones and insects discarded. He liked such a hobby and used to collect beetles with the only goal to maintain them in a good condition. His becoming a teenager had made him lonely to the point that he didn’t have any friends and was tense and distant with everyone. He claims to have developed thoughts like killing others and terrible things when he was around 14 years old.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s life at home was not a pleasant experience either since it had its share of troubles as well. Parents of Francis showed a tendency to quarrel a lot with his mentally ill mother. She even attempted to hurt herself a couple of times on purpose. This contributed to his view that Dahmberg s family wasn’t good as it is supposed to be. The separation of parents when he was already 18 made him more disappointed.

They believe that his childless youth could be linked to the horror he committed as an adult. Dahmer’s tough childhood might be one of the reasons for such terrible things in adult life.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s Disturbing Hobbies

Jeffrey Dahmer had some really disturbing hobbies and interests, like:

– Collecting bones from animals and learning how to clean and keep them safe.

– With his dad, Lionel, who was a scientist, he’d bleach bones of small animals.

– He got really into taxidermy, which is preserving animals’ bodies.

– He’d gather big bugs and small animals’ skulls, keeping them in special liquid.

– He drank a lot of alcohol, which he said helped him do bad things.

– He used a drug called Halcion to make his victims sleepy.

All these strange interests were part of his rough childhood that helped turn him into a serial killer.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s Victims and Methods

Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 males between 1978 and 1991, mostly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His victims were mostly poor and were African American, Asian, or Latino. Dahmer would drug his victims with sedatives, strangle them using his hands or a leather strap, and then engage in disturbing acts like necrophilia and cannibalism. He would also use chemicals and acids to dissolve their flesh and bones into a smelly sludge, which he would dispose of down the drain or toilet.

He kept some parts of the bodies, like the genitals and heads, as trophies, preserving them in formaldehyde. Dahmer was fascinated by the color of the internal organs and sexually excited by the warmth of freshly-killed bodies. His method of luring, killing, and disposing of victims was usually the same. He would invite men to his apartment under false pretenses, then watch explicit videos or take photos with them. Afterward, he would have sex with their corpses and later masturbate on them.

Before cleaning up, Jeffrey Dahmer would use his Polaroid camera to capture the entire gruesome process so he could remember each murder. He would then cut open the bodies, dismember them, and photograph each step, presumably for his own twisted viewing later. Dahmer’s troubled childhood, marked by his parents’ divorce, his mother’s mental health issues, and his own loneliness, likely contributed to his later crimes.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s Criminal Career

Jeffrey Dahmer, was on the radar of authorities prior to his entry into the army. Steven Hick, his first victim, became a victim of his first murder that summer, at the end of high school, in Bath, Ohio. Hoffman’s father prompted him to enlist in the United States Army, where he stayed from January 1979 through March 1981.

Dahmer, who served in the military, first, worked as a combat medic in Baumholder, West Germany. It turned out that he had continuously been under the high alcohol influence so he was discharged honorably.

Jeffrey Dahmer has faced numerous issues during his military service. Two of his fellow soldiers shared with him their own experience of sexual violence and attributed this to his actions. One of them, Preston Davis, noted that while in Belgium, Dahmer gave him a drug and then assaulted him in the course of their exercises. Dahmer was chastised by his commanders when he drank too much, so in March 1981, they said his drinking could affect his ability to be a soldier, but when he left the army they didn’t think it would affect his ability to work for the public somewhere else.

Arrest and Legal Trial

Only seven and a half years later, on July 22, 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer was finally caught when the victim, Tracy Edwards, was able to run away and report the crime. When the cops dragged Dahmer’s house, they found dismembered human parts put as food in the fridge, and they also saw his portraits of the victims. Dahmer, on the other hand, responded that he did not do it, then later concluded that he was crazy. What happened was that instead of a regular type of trial, they did a trial to decide if he were to be judged sane.

The trial began on January 30, 1991 in Milwaukee. Many people watched outside the house as it was plastered all over the news. Dahmer had to go through another trial in Ohio concerning a matter of murder there. He, as a result, was handed another life sentence. His lawyers said that he was insane, nor was he ruled as insane by the jury. In the end, the prosecution managed to secure a life sentence without any parole for each of the 15 murders that Dahmer was charged with.

Jeffrey Dahmer had a tough time in prison because he caused problems and behaved strangely. He got sentenced to stay in prison for 15 lifetimes because he killed 15 people, which meant he would be in prison for almost 1,000 years. They kept him separate from other prisoners for safety, but after a year, he could eat, take classes, and work with others. He sometimes made creepy jokes about eating people and would pretend his food looked like body parts with ketchup as blood, which scared guards and inmates.

Another prisoner named Christopher Scarver killed Dahmer by hitting him with a weight bar in 1994. Scarver later wrote a book about it, but people had mixed feelings about it. Dahmer’s crimes also caused legal fights because some victims’ families tried to sue Budweiser, saying their ads made Dahmer drink too much, which led to his crimes.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s high school years, where he tried to fit in and be funny, are shown in a book and movie called “My Friend Dahmer” by Derf Backderf and Marc Meyers. They show how lonely Dahmer was in high school, even though he wanted friends.

Dahmer’s Legacy and Cultural Impact

Jeffrey Dahmer’s impact on society is complex. His life has been portrayed in different ways in books and movies, like the graphic novel “My Friend Dahmer,” which shows his high school years before he became a killer. Some people have criticized a beer company for including Dahmer in a pack of serial killers, saying it’s disrespectful.

Dahmer’s crimes have inspired many books, documentaries, and films, including the Netflix series “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” which highlights police mistakes that let him keep killing.

His story makes people talk about mental health, crime, and why people become serial killers. New shows keep reminding us of the scary person he was.
